El Real Museo de Pintura y Escultura, que el 1868 va passar a denominar-se Museo Nacional de Pintura y Escultura i posteriorment Museo Nacional del Prado, va obrir al públic el 19 de novembre de 1819 amb 311 pintures de la Col·lecció Real, totes d'autors espanyols, penjades en els seus murs. Enguany doncs, es celebra el bicentanari d’aquest museu i per aquest motiu s’ha preparat una sèrie d’activitats que s’han aixoplugat sota el programa 1819-2019 Bicentenario del Museo del Prado.

Entre aquestes activitats destaca l'exposició De gira por España. Aquesta mostra consisteix en el préstec d'una pintura d'especial rellevància per un període d'un mes, a diferents museus escollits entre els millors del país, un per cada comunitat i ciutat autònoma (a excepció de Madrid).

En el cas del Museu de Menorca s'exposarà l'obra de Geroges de La Tour, Ciego tocando la zanfonía.
