Stone words: a look at the engravings of Menorca
As a result of research conducted by a multidisciplinary team of scholars, several studies have shed light on the meaning and possible context of various engravings found in different heritage sites, particularly in hypogea.
This talk offers a brief synthesis of the findings and the insights they provide into the people who used these spaces at different periods in the history of Menorca. It explores words, people, and the importance of monuments in the lives of the communities that have inhabited the island.
The conference is part of the International Day of Historic Monuments and Sites, an initiative of UNESCO and ICOMOS, aimed at raising awareness of the diversity of cultural heritage, its vulnerability, and the need for its protection.
The lecture will be delivered by Bartomeu Obrador, PhD in Classical Philology, and Miquel Pons Carreras, a graduate in Art History.
