New data on the Islamic past: Discovery of a new door in the castle of Santa Àgueda

The latest archaeological excavations and consolidation works promoted by the Island Council of Menorca, have brought to light new discoveries in the Islamic enclosure of the Castle of Santa Àgueda. Among the most outstanding finds, the recovery of a new access door to the fortification stands out, a discovery that sheds new light on this emblematic space in the history of Menorca.

In this conference, we will learn about the process of excavation, restoration and consolidation of the well-known "house of arms", as well as the techniques used to preserve structures that have resisted the passage of centuries. A unique opportunity to delve into the island's Islamic past and understand the importance of preserving this exceptional heritage that crowns the mountain of Santa Águeda.

The conference will be given by Carlos de Salort, archaeologist, Jesús Cardona, architect and Xisco Isbert, restorer, technical directors of the intervention.
