From the sky of the ancients to the sky of today: from ancient cultures to the eclipse of August 12
This talk proposes a journey through the relationship between human societies and the sky throughout history. Through archaeoastronomy, we will explore how various civilizations observed, interpreted, and integrated celestial phenomena—such as solstices, equinoxes, and especially eclipses—into their cultural, religious, and architectural practices.
Finally, a practical introduction to the observation of the eclipse of August 12 this year will be offered, with safety recommendations and guidelines for fully enjoying it.
In this way, the public is invited to become part of a thousand-year-old tradition of observing the firmament.
